Senior Vice President, Head of Retail Banking

Lawrence Henry is Beneficial State Bank’s Senior Vice President and Head of Retail and Digital Banking. Lawrence is responsible for driving organic growth across the Bank’s footprint and optimizing retail sales, service, and operations. His customer-centric strategies center extraordinary service and mission-focused solutions to drive growth and retention. Lawrence leverages his experience in business banking to enhance collaboration between the retail and commercial banking divisions with a focus on a “team-of-experts” service and sales approach. He is also responsible for developing innovative consumer products to broaden the range of customers the Bank can serve.

Lawrence has over 20 years of experience as the former head of retail at CTBC Bank Corp and the managing director and regional president of Consumer and Business Banking at MUFG Union Bank, N.A. He led Affordable Mortgage program initiatives to help low- and moderate-income borrowers and first-time homeowners. Lawrence earned his B.A. in Humanities from Arizona State University and his certification as a trainer from the Siebel Leadership Academy on Creating Customer Loyalty and Advanced Business Leadership.

Lawrence previously served on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Business Chamber of Commerce, the largest member chamber on the west coast, and San Diego State University’s Campanile Foundation. He also served on the Board of the Pacific Coast Banking School.

Lawrence is the recipient of numerous professional and community awards, including the Publisher’s Award from the Inland Valley News. In February 2015, he co-chaired the UNCF Mayor’s Luncheon with Mayor Kevin Faulconer, and in 2013 and 2015, he was the Keynote speaker for the San Diego Urban League Conference. In 2020, Lawrence was featured in a PBS feature on responsible investing.

Lawrence is passionate about bridging the financial and digital banking divide. He participates in financial education speaking engagements and contributes to financial wellness articles. Lawrence loves snowboarding (even though we seem to get less snow every year) and has been a comic book nerd since before there was a “Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
